Are you a good candidate for online bookkeeping jobs?

Do you enjoy crunching numbers day in day out?

Have an eye for detail?

If you answered “yes” to both questions, then you may be a good candidate for virtual bookkeeping jobs.

Bookkeeping is like proofreading. You will need to be accurate as you look into the figures and numbers.

As a bookkeeper, you will gather and record all relevant information pertaining to the company’s finances.

After recording the required financial data, you will need to create the required financial reports and convey them to the business owner. In turn, the business owner will use your reports as he or she makes financial decisions.

In addition to being a proofreader, you will also guide the business owner, veering him or her away from potentially bad decisions.

Bookkeeper Business Launch Student Reviews

To get the real scoop for this Bookkeeper Business Launch review I wanted to interview a student that went through the program.

Amy was kind enough to answer a few questions for me about her experience.

1.  What were you doing before you started bookkeeping?

Right before I started my business, I was a stay at home mom who had recently finished a 6-month stint as the interim Executive Director for a local nonprofit organization.  And prior to that, I was a Senior Vice President at a local bank.

2. Why and how did you decide to pursue this career? What was the driving factor?

I had always enjoyed math while I was in school and really enjoyed my job in the banking industry where I analyzed tax returns and made loans to local businesses and individuals.

Working with numbers was something I really geeked out over. And when I learned that I could work from home and work with numbers, I figured this was a match made in heaven.

I had no desire to return to the workforce as an employee who had to be in the office, the thought of driving to work each morning literally turned my stomach upside down.

I had to find a way to help my family financially in a way that would be me more joy than going to work for someone else (and following their rules).

3. What do you do as a bookkeeper?  What does a day in the life look like for a work at home bookkeeper?

The basics of my job are that I categorize transactions for clients to ensure that the expenses are put into the proper places in their financial statements so that the business owner can make decisions based up information that is in a presentable readable format (easier that reading a bank statement) and to help them prepare for the filing of their tax return.

I also talk with clients, help them make decisions on how to improve their business financials, help them look into the future to see what they need to do to grow their business, and help them get the business to be the business of their dreams.

Every day is different, I review emails, determine which clients have items that need to be dealt with ASAP and take care of those and then I get to work on making sure that their accounting files are up to date.

Throughout the day, I answer phone calls and emails from clients and I do research as needed to help answer clients questions.

I also spend some time each work on increasing my knowledge on the skills of bookkeeping and how to improve the processes for my clients so that we can make things run more smoothly.

4. When did you enroll in Bookkeeper Business Launch?

I purchased Bookkeeper Business Launch in May 2016.

5. How did it take you to complete the Bookkeeper Business Launch course?

I believe it took around 45 days to complete.

6. Did you find the Bookkeeper Business Launch Course to be a good investment? Is Bookkeeper Business Launch worth it?

I found the course to be a great investment (click here to check it out).

I was provided with the tools needed to find clients, work with those clients, how to get paid on time, and how to grow my business.

In addition, there are weekly Q&A’s where you can learn from your fellow peers, you can reach out for help in a private Facebook group where the students of BBL hang out and help each other, and you have email support if you need help with a particular client or advice in general.

The course is worth the price.

The course has also been updated a couple of times since I purchased it and with each new update, I continue to learn new things to help me grow my business and improve my processes.

7. How much mentorship did you receive after enrolling in Bookkeeper Business Launch?

As mentioned above, the support can come from all different places and sources.

There is a team of great people who are available to support you via email – they are all existing bookkeepers with years of experience who can help you through the majority of problems. And if they can’t help you, they will point you in the right direction to help you get the help you need.

Bookkeeper Business Launch doesn’t provide mentoring but the group (fellow student and those answering the emails) are able to help you with a large variety of situations to help you learn and grow.

8. How long did it take you to get your first bookkeeping client after taking the course?

It took me three months before I signed my first client and then I signed three clients within 2 weeks – it is a steep learning curve with one client, but add three, and I had my hands fully very quickly.

9. How much do you make now as a bookkeeper? Do you do this full-time or part-time?

I make close to six-figures per year. I am continuing to grow the number of clients I service and expect that number to continue to increase in the years to come. I do work full time.

(Editors Note: Ummm, six-figures?! Sign me up!)

10. Do you have kids? How do you balance working from home as a bookkeeper and being a parent?

I have three kids – a sophomore in college, a junior in high school and a kindergartener.

As you and your readers can attest to, my hands are full.

I love what I do and can easily spend more time working if I didn’t watch my time.  This is one of the downfalls of working from home, it is easy to keep working when your work is at home, or working on the weekends, etc.

I set a schedule for myself to ensure that I don’t do this and make the time to spend with my family – that is after all the reason why I wanted to work from home.

11. Would you recommend bookkeeping as a way for other parents to work from home?

If you love numbers and you enjoy helping businesses grow, then this is an option to provide you more freedom and improve your financial situation you should strongly consider.

Conclusion: Bookkeeper Business Launch review

In a nutshell, the Bookkeeper Business Launch course gives you all the tools and fundamentals you need to succeed should you choose to pursue a virtual bookkeeping career.
